First Class Sailing Humboldt
We started in 2012 to share our " Obsession", a Catalina 38 foot sloop. We love sailing and sharing it.  We Bought Obsession in July of 2012 in LA and sailed her north that summer with the intention of starting a B and B sailing business. She's a fast, sleek and safe sloop designed originally as congressional cup race boat and then gentrified into a six berth cruiser. Kim and I are eager to help get other people interested in sailing and sharing the joy of cruising. First Class Sailing Humboldt is family-run and operated right here in Trinidad and Eureka, CA. As far as we know,no other company offer similar services, but our services will be First Class always and come with a personal touch.

Our goal is for you and your party to have a fun and exciting outing in the Humboldt bay area and beyond. Were Committed to helping our customers achieve their dreams
Obsession is a 1982 Catalina 38 hull # 196 that came from a lifetime owner who had his initials put in the bilge when he ordered it from the Catalina factory, in Southern California.

She was a clean ship when we bought her in 2012 and she has an updated electrical system, galley, new cushions and fabric, new counter tops and table.  We raced Obsession In the Catalina 38 Nationals in August 2012 in S.F. Bay while we were delivering her North to Humboldt Bay and Placed 3rd overall.

She has a moderate galley with  refrigeration, microwave, oven and 2 burner natural gas stove and hot water kettle.  A Single head mid-ship, fully contained with a v-berth forward, a pilot berth stern and convertible full berth.  Its really comfortable with over 6' headroom and almost 12' beam.

This boat sails upwind fantastic with a deep 7' keel and powerful rig, wheel steering and is a capable coastal cruiser. Downwind this boat uses large headsails and surfs at up to 10 knots. This Boat was designed by the famous Sparkman and Stevens and has a classic tumble home figure.  The Catalina 38 replaced the Cal 40 as the Congressional Cup one design race boat in late 1970's through the 1980's.  Check out  Catalina38.org  for more info.
